RC Cola (short for Royal Crown Cola) is an American cola brand that first saw the light of day in 1905. It was originally created for the Cole-Hampton-Hatcher Grocery Store as a way to avoid the high cost of purchasing Coca-Cola syrup. In the 1950s, Royal Crown Cola and a “moon pie” were a popular “working-class lunch” in the American South. In 1954, Royal Crown was the first company to sell soda in a can, and later the first to sell it in an aluminum can. RC Cola is now an American icon and holds a special place in many Americans’ hearts. As an iconic American soda—especially in the Southern states—Royal Crown Cola stands on its own. A crisp and refreshing cola that truly deserves its crown!
